James Comey background
Born in Yonkers, Comey grew up in the New York City suburbs in both New York and New Jersey. He majored in chemistry and religion at the College of William and Mary before going on to attend the University of Chicago Law School. He clerked for U.S. District Judge John Walker, worked as an associate for a private firm and represented the government as a U.S. Attorney. In that position, his major cases involved identify fraud, securities fraud, and organized crime.
Comey continued to make a name for himself as the Deputy Attorney General and the Director of the FBI. He investigated Hillary Clinton and her use of personal emails when communicated state information. He also presided over the decision to investigate any collusion with Russians by the Donald Trump campaign. In May 2017, he was subsequently fired by President Trump. He has gone on to work as a faculty member at his alma mater, write, and speak.

After his termination, he began to write his autobiography. In the month prior to its release, it was the No. 1 book on Amazon. Within a week of its release, it had sold over 600,000 copies. It discusses issues of ethics, leadership and loyalty, which are all intertwined with the modern American political scene. CBS Television Studios bought the rights to the book with the idea that they could turn the story into a miniseries.

A trained lawyer, he has worked in faculty positions at several universities. He was named a Carter O. Lowance Fellow at the William and Mary Law School, received a fellowship from Columbia University and taught as an adjunct professor at the University of Richmond School of Law. He has served on the board of HSBC Holdings, was general counsel and senior vice president of Lockheed Martin and acted as general counsel of Bridgewater Associates.
