Jhene Aiko Tickets
Jhene Aiko TicketsJhene Aiko rose to fame around 2013 on the new wave of alternative R&B, hip-hop and soul. Her music projects a soulful, chilled-out, sometimes trippy vibe. Aiko cites Tupac, Eminem, TLC and Aaliyah as major influences on her own work. Over her career, she has collaborated as a featured artist with Big Sean, 2 Chainz and Sean Paul. She is part of the hip-hop collective known as Cocaine '80s, which occasionally records and tours together.
Sailing SoulBorn in Los Angeles, Calif., Jhene Aiko got her start in the music industry at around the age of 14. Her first major break came around 2002 as a backup vocalist for the American boy band B2K. She soon began developing songs for a debut album called My Name Is Jhene and even released the single "No L.O.V.E." However, the album was ultimately never released due to creative differences with the publisher. After a brief hiatus from the music industry, Aiko signed a deal with Def Jam and Artium Records in 2012. Her first extended play album, Sail Out, came out the following year. It reached No. 8 in the US and No. 1 on the R&B chart on the strength of the hit singles "Bed Peace" featuring Childish Gambino and "The Worst." The album was both a commercial and critical success. It sold more than 500,000 copies and earned Grammy Award nominations for Best Urban Contemporary Album and Best R&B Song. Her collaboration with the rapper Common on "Blak Majik" was also nominated for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration. After considerable anticipation, she released her full-length debut album, Souled Out, which reached No. 3 on the US chart in 2014. Two years later, Aiko formed the hip-hop group Twenty88 with Big Sean. Their self-titled debut album together peaked at No. 1 on the US hip-hop chart. Aiko continued to sustain this success with her 2017 sophomore album Trip, which sold more than 500,000 copies in the US. True to its name, the album is a mental and psychedelic journey through the mysterious and unknown. In addition to the Grammy Awards, she has received nominations from the Soul Train Awards, BET Awards and American Music Awards.
