Recognition among the elites of the LA music biz
Born John Lowery in Michigan in 1971, John 5 was inspired by guitar-heavy bands and virtuoso players like Eddie Van Halen, Jimi Hendrix and Yngwie Malmsteen, as well as a range of country music. He moved to LA when he was just 18 years old with his sights set on becoming a successful session musician. Eventually he would meet Bob Marlette, a producer who’d worked with everyone from Traci Chapman to Rob Halford and Alice Cooper. The pair worked together on a number of projects before John 5 was asked to open for Kiss with Lita Ford. His first true big break, however, came when he was chosen by David Lee Roth to play lead guitar on his 1998 album "DLR Band". From there, John 5 shot to fame and played for industrial metal legend Marilyn Manson until 2004. It was during this time that he began writing and releasing his own instrumental records and finally took the spotlight for himself at his own headline shows. Fans would get to experience this incredible guitar player let loose in a burst of creative freedom. Always the rock ‘n’ roll showman, a John 5 gig is unmissable for any axe-wielding music fan. Forever the ultimate shredder
The solo career of John 5 began with 2004’s "Vertigo", right around the time he started playing with Rob Zombie. The artist’s work has featured incredible guests such as Slipknot’s Jim Root, Joe Satriani and Steve Vai, although it’s his own playing that really stands out. Famed for his signature shredding, the speeds this guy can rip are almost impossible to believe! Industrial metal influences run through the majority of his work, yet you’ll also find experimental country and even flamenco tracks (check out "Noche Acosador" for some amazing finger-picked playing) across his body of work. For a masterclass in rock guitar, it’s an absolute must to head down to one of these gigs. Just make sure to use StubHub to buy your John 5 tickets before they sell out, as these ones are going to go in a flash!
