More About Live Transmission - Post-Punk Goes Classical
Burning brightly and briefly in the late '70s, Joy Division have become one of the most influential and important touchstones of the modern musical era. Led by iconic frontman Ian Curtis - who tragically passed away in 1980 - the ground-breaking group topped the indie charts with albums Unknown Pleasures and Closer and released future rock anthems such as 'Love Will Tear Us Apart' and 'Atmosphere'. The latter inspired Live Transmission creator Laura Ducceschi, who says she was fixated on the "intensity and beauty" of its sombre soundscapes.
Rather than simply present reworked versions of the band's songs, her show aims to be a fully immersive live music experience featuring spectacular visuals, pounding percussion and the sweeping strings of the Heritage Orchestra. Formed in 2004, the orchestra has made its name collaborating with artists such as Dizzee Rascal, Emeli Sande and Razorlight and appeared at prestigious venues such as the Sydney Opera House.
