About Judith Hill
American singer/songwriter Judith Glory Hill was born in 1984 in Los Angeles, California. Known for her powerful and “earthy” voice, Hill has sung backup for iconic and legendary artists such as Michael Jackson, John Legend, Prince, Stevie Wonder and Josh Groban. With such an exquisite voice, many in the music industry wondered how she hadn’t risen to fame more quickly; however, in 2009, she received the big break she had been waiting for. Michael Jackson chose Hill to perform “I Just Can’t Stop Loving You” on his This Is It tour. After Jackson’s death, she performed at his memorial service, where she gained notoriety and national attention for her rendition of “Heal the World.”
Her rise to stardom only continued to grow, and she soon landed the lead in a documentary film titled 20 Feet from Stardom, for which she won a Black Reel Award for Outstanding Original Song for “Desperation.” In addition, the documentary itself won a Grammy and an Academy Award for Best Music Film/Best Documentary. After her success in the film industry, she was featured on the fourth season of The Voice in 2013 and climbed to the Top 8. When she was sent home, The Voice labeled it as “one of the most shocking eliminations of the show.”
After The Voice, Judith Hill joined Gordon Goodwin’s Big Phat Band on their album – titled Life In A Bubble – which featured her hit song “Party Rockers” and was nominated for a 2015 Grammy for Best Arrangement Instruments and Vocals. Furthermore, Hill was honored with a 2016 nomination from the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) for Outstanding New Artist.
With a long list of achievements and accomplishments, Judith Hill is one of the most decorated backup and lead singers in the music industry.
