Juliana Hatfield Biography - Baby Steps to the Top of the Charts
Legend has it that this Boston native's first exposure to music came when her babysitter played her tunes by cult Los Angeles punk act X. Encouraged to join a school choir, she eventually went to a music college and formed her first band, Blake Babies, in 1986. Beginning life as a punky outfit, they evolved to include a sunnier pop edge and slowly built momentum in the US and Europe. Belonging to a cohort of the American rock scene's most important groups around the turn of the decade, she launched a solo career in 1991 and continued her trajectory towards alt-rock icon status. Her solo LP Hey Babe ended up becoming one of 1992's biggest selling indie albums, while sophomore effort Become What You Are spawned numerous radio hits and saw her top the Modern Rock Tracks chart in the US with 'My Sister'.
In the years since, she's solidified her status as one of alternative music's key recording artists, attracting legions of fans to her shows whenever she plays in the UK. Playing joint dates with fellow grunge god Evan Dando in 2012, she's more must-see than ever. Look up her upcoming show dates by searching for Juliana Hatfield tickets on StubHub UK.
