Justin Martin background
Martin has always shown an interest in music -- he banged on pots and pans when he was just two years old. Martin soon made the transition from kitchenware to turntables, and he established himself as a major name on San Francisco's club scene. He started playing small clubs, then moved to bigger venues, then became a fixture on the West Coast festival circuit.
Martin epitomizes the modern-day DJ-producer. He communicates with his fans on Snapchat, uploads tracks to Soundcloud and posts pictures of his DJ sets on Instagram. But, his music, which is often ethereal, speaks for itself. Soaring vocals, dramatic strings, feel-good choruses -- Martin's sound is more church than house.
Martin is also an accomplished record producer and businessman. He co-founded the record label Dirtybird Records in San Francisco in 2005 and has helped to sign various tech and bass house artists over the years. Artists like Little by Little and Secondcity appear on the imprint.
Justin Martin history

On the four-song set, Martin makes some major noise and turns the bass up to 11. "Twiddle Me This," "Miss You... Please Call Me Back Someday" and "Frisbee, Anyone?" all feature on the EP.
After years playing to packed-out crowds around the world, Martin returned to the studio in 2012 to record his debut album. Ghettos & Gardens features 12 emotionally-fuelled house tracks -- perfect for dancefloors around the world. Influenced by artists like Goldie, Martin experiments with different soundscapes on tracks like "Night Calling," "Riding Spaceships" and "Butterflies." Critics described the set as an accomplished debut, and Martin continued to release music through digital platforms.
Martin's second album, Hello Clouds, generated much critical buzz. He flirts with multiple genres on the set and collaborates with talented vocalists LIKE Charlotte OC, Lena Cullen and FEMME. "Back to the Jungle," "Wet Cat (Sooo Wet)" and "Rabbit Hole" are just some of the tracks on the album. Released in April 2016, Hello Clouds peaked at No. 15 on the Billboard Dance/Electronic Albums Chart -- Martin's highest chart position yet.
