Kansas Star Casino - Major Concert and Event Venue
Just south of Wichita, the Kansas Star Casino provides a space for nationally touring acts and other events in its Kansas Star Arena. Managed by Boyd Gaming, the Kansas Star Casino is a top-notch destination for music lovers and others seeking live entertainment.
Kansas Star Casino History
In 2007, the passage of the Kansas Expanded Lottery Act opened the way for a new casino to be built in the Wichita region. After going through the county referendum process, a bidding war ensued, culminating in a successful bid from Peninsula Gaming, which was later acquired by Boyd Gaming. The Kansas Star Casino opened in a temporary location on December 26, 2011 and moved to its permanent facility approximately one year later.
Kansas Star Casino Events
The Kansas Star Casino hosts a variety of events in its very own Kansas Star Arena, a multipurpose entertainment venue. The events that draw the largest crowds are usually concerts, and with the venue's size and proximity to Wichita, it has a lot of power to draw major nationally touring acts. Past musical performers at the Kansas Star Arena include Foreigner, Journey, Sara Evans and Scotty McCreery, and nationally renowned comedians such as Bill Engvall have graced the stage.
Besides its impressive concert schedule, the Kansas Star Arena also hosts a variety of other special events, including Bellator MMA-hosted mix martial arts events, the Miss Kansas USA pageant, Championship Bull Riding, equestrian events hosted by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association and much more.
The Kansas Star Casino also maintains the Event Center Ballroom, a much smaller theater that is perfect as a venue for smaller productions that will fare better in an intimate space.
Kansas Star Casino Seating Layout
The Kansas Star Arena contains 3,400 fixed seats but can accommodate up to 6,000 patrons for concerts. The fixed seats are arranged in stands that ring in a U around the stage, while the venue floor can be left clear for standing room only events or filled with seats to provide additional seating.
