Love Never Dies Fort Worth Tickets
Love Never Dies Fort Worth TicketsAndrew Lloyd Webber's Love Never Dies is a sequel of sorts to the wildly popular musical, The Phantom of the Opera. Debuting in 2010 as a West End theatre production, the story is based on Frederick Forsyth's 1999 novel, The Phantom of Manhattan. Forsyth, Webber and Australian playwright Ben Elton take audiences on a delightfully campy and irreverent romp through Coney Island, filled with suspense, romantic intrigue and of course, award-winning musical numbers. Love Never Dies has toured around the world from London's West End to Copenhagen, Australia, Tokyo, and Hamburg, Germany, and is now available for American audiences in cities like Fort Worth, Texas.
Not Quite a SequelAlthough many have called Love Never Dies a sequel to the wildly popular 1980's musical theatre show The Phantom of the Opera, Andrew Lloyd Webber disagrees. In 2012, he told Entertainment Weekly Magazine that he considered Love Never Dies to be more of a stand-alone show featuring some of the same characters as The Phantom of the Opera. Chronologically speaking, the show is set 10 years after the end of Webber's Phantom musical and 26 years after Gaston Leroux's Phantom ends in 1881. In Webber's world, roughly 10 years have passed since Christine Daae has seen the Phantom. She has moved on with her life and is now married to Gaston and the mother of ten-year-old Gustave. Christine is scheduled to make her American opera debut with Hammerstein but is inexplicably drawn to break the engagement and visit Phantasma instead, a mysterious 'show palace' on Coney Island. While Webber feels that audiences do not have to have seen the Phantom to understand Love Never Dies, the recurring themes of obsession, estrangement and respectability might confuse audience members who have no familiarity with these characters' original stories.

What can I expect from the Love Never Dies show?Love Never Dies has a two hour and twenty-five minute run time, and like most musicals, is bisected by a brief intermission between acts. The show is filled with bright colors and includes some strobe lighting effects that might be unsuitable for those with epilepsy. The adult content and subject matter make this an appropriate show for teens and adults, but much of the nuance might be lost on younger audiences. Several show-stopping solos are included and you are expected to applaud at the end of these performances.
Does Love Never Dies have the same cast as The Phantom of the Opera? While some of the characters from The Phantom of the Opera are revived, Love Never Dies has its own cast for audiences to fall in love with. Soprano Meghan Picerno and tenor Bronson Norris Murphy lead a talented cast as Christine Daae and the Phantom, respectively.
Who wrote Love Never Dies?Andrew Lloyd Webber expressed interest in creating a sequel to The Phantom of the Opera as early as the mid-90s. He worked with a writer named Frederick Forsyth on what was then called The Phantom of Manhattan, but eventually tabled the project. Forsyth went on to write a book with the same title that was adapted by writer Ben Elton. Lyricist Glenn Slater and Andrew Lloyd Webber composed the musical score for Love Never Dies with the help of additional lyrics from writer Charles Hart and new music from composer David Cullen.
Does Love Never Dies have all the same characters as The Phantom of the Opera? While many of your favorite characters from The Phantom of the Opera are reprised in Love Never Dies, new characters are introduced as well. Some of the familiar faces will be Christine Daae, her husband Raoul, Madame Giry, Meg Giry and of course, the Phantom. Some new characters include Christine's son Gustave and carnival 'freaks' Fleck, Squelch and Gangle.
Has Love Never Dies won any awards?Unlike its predecessor, The Phantom of the Opera, which is beloved by audiences worldwide and has received over 50 international rewards, proving that lightning really can strike twice!
