How is the Brainerd International Raceway configured? The drag strip at Brainerd International Raceway was created in 1969 when the facility converted a straightaway on its road course into a drag strip. It features a quarter-mile surface with a 700-foot concrete launch pad. The strip's remaining 600 feet are paved in asphalt. The concrete launchpad provides exceptional traction for Top Fuel cars and their rear-mounted 10,000 horsepower engines. The track also offers racers a shutdown area over a half-mile long.
