Built in 1925 on a one-acre parcel in Macon, Georgia, the Macon City Auditorium is a Classic Greek Revival theater. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Macon City Auditorium is contained within the greater Macon Centreplex along with the Macon Coliseum. It is known simply as "The Auditorium." There is a limestone colonnade in the Doric style surrounding the building at the balcony level on three sides. In addition, gracing the ceiling of its Great Hall is a giant mural painted by Don Carlos Dubois and Wilbur Kurtz depicting the history of Macon from DeSoto's arrival in 1540 to World War I. Macon City Auditorium plays host to numerous musical artists past and present, including Gladys Knight, Govt Mule, The Mighty O'Jays and KC and The Sunshine Band.
