Designated as a Historic Place on the National Register in 2008, the Majestic Theatre was designed by C. Howard Crane and opened its doors in 1915. At the time, it was the largest movie theater in the world. Originally built with an arched Italian faade, the front was updated to its current Art Deco faade in 1934 when Woodward Avenue was widened. This faade is the largest Art Deco enameled metal panel in Detroit. The movie theater was closed later, and the building was used as a church and as a photographic studio. It is now used as a venue for musical presentations. Today, the Majestic Theatre hosts a variety of indie rock, hip-hop, jazz, folk, electronic and metal groups, featuring artists like FKJ, Dodie and Getter. The Majestic Theatre can also be reserved for special events. Get your Majestic Theatre tickets at StubHub, and plan an evening of fun.
