He possesses two degrees from Marshall, and he even played basketball for them during his college years. The Cam Henderson Center is also the home of the Marshall Thundering Herd women’s basketball and volleyball teams. Along with the basketball court, the Henderson Center includes a basketball weight room, an 800-seat natatorium and the offices for the athletic department staff.

In fact, Andy Tonkovich was Marshall’s only first-round, first pick in the 1948 draft by the Basketball Association of America, later known as the NBA. Hal Greer caught the attention of then-coach Cam Henderson while still in high school. He ended up being the first African-American to receive a scholarship from Marshall. His successful basketball career went on past college into the NBA.
