Marsicans - harmony-laden indie outfit
Combining indie rock riffs and catchy pop melodies with Northern humour and four-part harmonies, Marsicans are one of the most entertaining bands to emerge from the Leeds music scene. You can both buy and sell Marsicans tickets on StubHub.
Championed by Coldplay
Lead vocalist James Newbigging, guitarist Oliver Jameson, bassist and keyboardist Rob Brander and drummer Matthew McHale formed Marsicans during their high school years in 2011 and released their debut EP, "The Chivalry", three years later. Having become a fixture of their Leeds hometown's live music circuit the band then started to attract wider attention when they were invited to open for Minnesota outfit Hippo Campus on their tour across the UK. Championed by none other than the world-conquering Coldplay, single "Friends" made the Radio 1 playlist in 2017, while the group also performed at Glastonbury Festival for the first time and headed out on the road with LAB Records labelmates Natives for a 17-date trek that same year. Marsicans have also performed at several other high profile festivals including Reading and Leeds, Dot to Dot and Kendal Calling, and supported fellow Yorkshire bands Embrace and The Pigeon Detectives and chart-toppers Catfish and the Bottlemen. From barbershop quartet harmonies to Britney Spears
Having spent several years honing their craft on their local live music scene, Marsicans know what it takes to put on an energetic and captivating live show. Typically backed by a trio of screens featuring glitchy graphics, the quartet whip the crowd up into a frenzy from the get-go as they rattle through familiar singles such as "Gone in a Second", "Arms of Another", "Throw Ourselves In", "Wake Up Freya", "Too Good" and "Pop-Ups (Sunny at the Weekend)". With their floppy fringes and vintage shirts and jeans combos, Marsicans may look like your average British indie band, but their live shows prove they sound anything but. Their impressive four-part barbershop quartet-style harmonies show they have just as much in common with the Beach Boys as they do Arctic Monkeys. And they also aren't afraid to embrace their pop side either, having previously performed unique cover versions of Britney Spears' turn of the century chart topper "Oops!… I Did It Again" and Michael Jackson's late 1980s classic "Man in the Mirror". If you haven't yet experienced the eclectic guitar band up, close and personal then book your Marsicans tickets on StubHub.
