About Max Amini

Max Amini built his comedy career between two cultures. Born in Tucson, Arizona, to an Iranian father from Isfahan and an Iranian Azerbaijani mother from Tabriz, he moved with his family to Iran at age eight and lived there until he was 17. That bicultural upbringing became the backbone of his stand-up, feeding material about family, relationships, and the everyday absurdities of life between two worlds. After finishing high school in Washington, DC, he graduated from the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television in 2004.

Amini started doing stand-up in 2002 at the LA Improv, where he developed an early touring show called Exotic Imports. In the years since, he has headlined shows worldwide, with tours spanning Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, and he has performed regularly at the Hollywood Laugh Factory. His sets blend observational comedy, satire, and physical comedy, with material built on relationships, family, and Iranian culture. He has also performed stand-up in both English and Persian.

Beyond the stage, Amini has built a steady screen and behind-the-camera resume. He appeared in NBC's Heroes, Comedy Central's Mind of Mencia, and Netflix's Real Rob with Rob Schneider, and he played the lead role in the 2010 film Beer Pong Saved My Life. In 2015 he released the two-hour special Max Amini: Authentically Absurd, directed by Rob Schneider. He founded the production company Abstraction Media in 2010, sold projects to networks including Voice of America and Discovery, and directed the Netflix stand-up special Enissa Amani: Ehrenwort. For comedy fans, his touring footprint means Max Amini tickets show up in cities far beyond the American club circuit, from Europe to the Middle East and Asia.
