MegaCon schedule and tickets
MegaCon is billed as the biggest fan and comic convention in the South East with something to interest almost every type of fan. MegaCon celebrates the intersection of pop culture with all things speculative, including comics, gaming, horror, anime, science fiction, fantasy, television and movies, and it often includes high-profile speakers, guests and panelists in each area.
MegaCon is a production of Fan Expo HQ, which hosts a total of approximately 300,000 fans across conventions that span from Canada to Tampa Bay. MegaCon itself began with a spring event in Orlando, which is typically held in February or March. Fan support for the event is so great, the company expanded it to include a fall MegaCon in Tampa Bay; now fans can snap selfies with zombie hunters and vampire actors, shop for unique gifts or choose a side and root for a pro comic artist during Sketch Duels twice a year.
MegaCon noteworthy events
Both MegaCon locations typically see approximately 100,000 visitors over four days of programming. The conventions attract numerous superstars of the genre, including actors from iconic shows such as Doctor Who, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Supernatural and new shows such as Stranger Things, Arrow and Vampire Diaries. Fans can get pictures taken with all their favorite horror, sci-fi and comic actors or attend panels to see the performers talk about their shows, the entertainment business or just random experiences they want to share.
Each convention has its own highlights, which typically include special showings of both classic and new films and exciting trailer reveals for new series and movies. Costume contests are always a big hit, so fans will want to stock up on role-playing gear when they purchase a ticket. Popular costumes range from renditions of the latest leading characters to superhero and literature classics, and at MegaCon, almost nothing is out of place.
MegaCon isn't just about the mega stars in the genres, though. Fans can find indie and small press interests in specialty pavilions or scattered throughout the convention space, and the exhibition hall provides an opportunity for everyone to shop unique finds. The convention boasts more than 400,000 square feet of shopping space where fans can find clothing, books, comics, media, memorabilia, original artwork and a range of unique gifts. After shopping, attendees can find their way to autograph stations to get their items signed off on by a favorite actor or writer.
