Memorial Stadium, located on the campus of the University of Illinois in Champaign, is home to the Fighting Illini Football. Construction was finished in 1923 after the original playing field, Illinois Field, was considered inadequate. Memorial Stadium was named for the University of Illinois Alumni who fought and died in World War I. Their names are listed singly on 183 columns throughout the stadium. Later, it was also dedicated to alumni who died in World War II. Additionally, the bell of the unfinished World War II battleship, the USS Illinois resides at the stadium and is rung when the Fighting Illini score a touchdown. In 2002, Memorial Stadium served as the home field for the Chicago Bears while Soldier Field was undergoing renovations. The stadium has also served as the finish line for the annual Illinois Marathon since its inception in 2009. Grab your Memorial Stadium events tickets at StubHub.

What are the seating arrangements like in Memorial Stadium?
The best seats are considered the sideline seating area. However, with players and coaches standing on the sidelines, it may be difficult to see the entire game. If you are above row 43 on either the east or west main levels, you will have cover from the balcony above in case of rain. The stadium's support pillars can sometimes obstruct the upper balcony seats. There are also three premium-seating sections that include your meals, snacks and beverages before and during the game.
Is on-site parking available?
There is plenty of parking near Memorial Stadium. Just across Kirby Avenue to the south, you will find State Farm Center Parking Lots. Lot 31 and Lot 32 are located on the west side of the stadium on First Street. All parking is a short walk from the stadium.
What food and beverage items are available at Memorial Stadium?
You can have your food served to you when you purchase premium Memorial Stadium seating. Otherwise, there are concessions located throughout the stadium with unique offerings including brat burgers, apple pie nachos and fish and chips. You can also find your regular game-day favorites including hot dogs, pretzels, pizza and soda.
What other entertainment options are nearby?
As mentioned, the State Farm Center is just across the street from the stadium. It hosts concerts, comedy shows and other University of Illinois events. It is the home of both the men's and women's Fighting Illini basketball teams. Stroll around campus or head north to Downtown Champaign for eclectic shops, bars and restaurants.
