Miami Open TicketsThe Miami Open is an annual tennis tournament that features some of the top talent in the world competing on a hard-court surface. In terms of importance in the annual tennis season, it ranks just below the four big majors as a part of the ATP Masters 1000 on the men’s side and the Premier Mandatory on the women’s side. The inaugural Miami Open took place in 1985. In its first few years of operation, the Miami Open bounced around the Palm Beach area. However, in 1987, the tournament found a permanent home at Crandon Park in Key Biscayne, Fla., where it would remain for more than 30 years. In 2019, the organizers moved the tournament to Hard Rock Stadium, which is also the home of the Miami Dolphins and the Miami Hurricanes. Past winners of the tournament include Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, Serena and Venus Williams, Andre Agassi, Steffi Graf, Pete Sampras, Andy Murray, Chris Evert and Martina Navratilova. What is the format of the Miami Open? The Miami Open is a single-elimination tournament. Each match is a best-of-three, and the winner advances to the next round, while the loser is eliminated. The top 32 players are seeded based on their overall tour rankings. The remaining players are spread throughout the rest of the bracket. As the name implies, the Miami Open is an open tournament, so players can receive an entry into the main bracket through victory in the qualifying stages. The results of the tournament count toward the player’s regular-season standings. Since this is a Masters 1000/Premier Mandatory tournament, it counts more than a standard tournament but less than a Grand Slam major.
