Where do the Michigan State Spartans play?The Michigan State Spartans play at Munn Ice Arena in East Lansing, Mich. The Munn Ice Arena was first opened in 1974. This is one of the great classic buildings in NCAA Division I hockey. In the 40-plus years since the building opened, it's been renovated several times. Since the 1999-2000 season, the press box has been modernized, the HVAC system was upgraded, and bleachers were replaced with proper seats with seat backs. Munn Ice Arena is named after Clarence L. Munn, a former football coach and athletic director at Michigan State. Munn's nickname was "Biggie," which fit his personality very well.
