Middle Kids tour dates
A three-piece alternative indie rock band from Sydney, Australia, Middle Kids quickly made a name for themselves. Led by singer and guitarist Hannah Joy, as well as her husband, Tim Fitz, their trio was completed when they met drummer, Harry Day. After releasing their debut single, "Edge of Town," they were immediately noticed.
Elton John first aired the track on his Beats 1 radio show, calling himself a fan after adding it to his own playlist. Following this exposure, they won a competition, winning them a spot at the Iceland Airwaves Music Festival. After playing in Australia, the UK, Iceland and Los Angeles in 2016, Middle Kids tour dates were booked across the United States, Canada, and Australia for 2017.
Middle Kids' background
Before Middle Kids, Hannah Joy and Tim Fitz were no strangers to the Sydney music scene. They had each previously released their own solo EP, but the combined sound of Middle Kids was something exciting and new. Prior to them joining forces, Tim had shared the stage with artists such as Flume and Matt Corby. The couple already had a sense of where they wanted to be, and they made it happen.
After releasing just two singles, they already began to receive global attention. Upon winning the FBi Radio's Northern Lights competition to play in Iceland, they threw together a setlist, based on songs they had recorded in Hannah and Tim's garage. They were joined by artists such as Bjork and Warpaint.
In 2017, they released their first self-titled EP, which then peaked at No. 26 on the ARIA Albums Chart. Opening for acts such as Cold War Kids and Ryan Adams, they made stops at the Austin City Music Festival, LouFest and the Life is Beautiful Festival.
Middle Kids career
For fans of Middle Kids, it appears as though they achieved stardom almost immediately. Although their song, "Edge of Town" was streamed over 5 million times on Spotify, the trio also received a lot of radio attention. Prior to joining forces, Hannah had been experimenting with piano folk and dance music. Once she began collaborating with Tim, more of a rock sound emerged.
After Harry joined their duo, they admit that they all had more fun performing as a unit. All the hype that they initially received was based on anticipation -- fans knew that more good things were to come. In late 2017, they recorded a cover of Blink-182's, "All the Small Things" for Amazon Acoustics, putting their own country spin on a well-loved track.
