Mo Pitney's background
Mo Pitney was raised in a musical family in a small town in Illinois. His steel-pan guitarist dad introduced Mo to the drums at age six, and by age 12, he was learning to play the guitar by mastering Johnny Cash at San Quentin in its entirety. At 15, Mo Pitney first picked up the banjo, along with an interest in bluegrass music, and started playing with some friends in an acoustic band. Pitney cites his early (and enduring) musical influences as the classic country greats -- George Strait, Buck Owens and Keith Whitley among others.
By the age of 20, Mo Pitney had taken himself to Nashville, setting his sights on a professional music career. In impressively short order, he landed a contract with a record label, and despite still being an unknown entity, scored an invitation to perform at the legendary country venue, Nashville's Grand Ole Opry. On that storied stage, he played his original songs "Country" and "Clean Up on Aisle Five," earning a standing ovation and place among the most promising newcomers to the country genre. Country Rebel magazine called him "the next Randy Travis."

Mo Pitney released his debut single, "Country," in December 2014. Pitney's second single, "Boy & a Girl Thing", came out in August 2015 and also made the Hot Country Songs chart and Country Airplay chart. "Everywhere," Pitney's third single, was released in December 2016.
In October 2016, Mo Pitney released his debut full-length album, Behind This Guitar. In the first week of its release, the record went straight to No. 10 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart. He supported the album with extensive touring of the United States and Europe.
