Ain't No Mountain High EnoughMotown: The Musical is set in the year 1983. It is the 25th anniversary of Motown, and the label is having a party for all of the people that helped make it a success. In Berry's own words adapted from his book, the show recalls his hardships and triumphs as the label began its rise to fame, putting Detroit on the map as the city at the heart of his musical revolution. Motown: The Musical features well-known music from artists such as The Temptations, Rick James, The Miracles, Teena Marie, The Marvelettes, Jackie Wilson, The Four Tops, The Commodores, Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye, The Jackson Five and Diana Ross and The Supremes. The musical also touches on the themes of the times, including racism and activism. With its success on Broadway driving it, Motown: The Musical began a US tour in 2014. It ended its run on Broadway in 2015.
