Mountaineer Field is the official home of the West Virginia University Mountaineers football team. The stadium was intended to be a replacement for the original Mountaineer Field, which opened in 1924. Due to its location on the school's main campus, the original field could not be expanded or renovated. The university set out to build a modern stadium located on the health science campus in Morgantown, West Virginia. The new Mountaineer Field opened on September 6, 1980, with a capacity of 50,000, later expanded to 60,000. The stadium itself was named Milan Puskar Stadium in 2004 to honor Milan Puskar, the CEO of Mylan Pharmaceuticals, who made a $20 million donation to the university. The largest crowd to ever attend a game was 70,222 on November 20, 1993, when the Mountaineers hosted the No. 4-ranked Miami Hurricanes. Find the best Mountaineer Field event tickets at StubHub.
