Moments of silliness and audience participation
The idea behind this show is to introduce children to classical and vocal Music by pulling together some of the more inaccessible and well known pieces and giving them a story line. The show is aimed at children from the age of three and older. It takes place in the Royal Albert Hall, which is an imposing and grand building. There are moments of silliness and plenty of audience participation. Conductor Tim Redmond has become a specialist in contemporary music. He has worked with Thomas Ades on works including "Powder Her Face" and "The Tempest" and has conducted many world premieres of modern works. He has conducted in Hungry and New York, as well as at the major classical and operatic venues in the United Kingdom. He is the Music Director of the Cambridge Philharmonic, guest conductor with both the Royal Philharmonic Orchestras and the London Symphony Orchestra and Professor of Conducting at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Tom Redmond is also a musician, as well as a presenter and classical music educator. He has performed throughout the world. See and hear the might of the full symphony orchestra when you buy and sell My Christmas Orchestral Adventure tickets on StubHub.
Laugh, dance and sing
One of the aims of this show is to show that classical music can be fun and that you can make fun of it and have fun with it. In a scene from a previous production, the orchestra pretended to be weightless in space by waving their musical instruments in the air and trying to play Beethoven’s 5th Symphony, which they did – badly. Children have been described as being "mesmerised" by the show and the music.
