ID&T create awesome summer festival magic
Since its original launch in 1993, Mysteryland has become an annual rite of summer and, with each passing year, continues to grow in scope, attendance and the quality of talent drawn to its many stages. All credit for this monster festival is due to a trio from Amsterdam whose dream it was to create unique festivals for lovers of electronic dance music. Irfan van Ewijk, Duncan Stutterheim and Theo Lelie are the men behind the initials who created Mysteryland out of the initial success of their Thunderdome project. Mysteryland, along with Drumcode, Roskilde Festival and Glastonbury Festival, is one of the world's biggest summer music festivals. The inaugural edition of Mysteryland was held in the town of Lelystad and back then was a one-night affair featuring only a handful of artists, including Buzz Fuzz and DJ The Prophet. The event first moved to its more familiar location of Haarlemmermeer in 2003, showcasing world famous Paul van Dyk and local DJ Laidback Luke and expanded to its present three-day format in 2015. Mysteryland invades the Americas and goes global
Although the three-day weekend festival premiered at Haarlemmermeer in 2015, it traces back to an ID&T event in Mostazal, Chile in 2011, which was the very first Mysteryland edition held outside of Europe where Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike led a cast of DJs introducing the ID&T concept to South America and landed further dates in 2012-2014. 2014 was also the year that Mysteryland USA unveiled its first and only summer edition to date, which was held at Woodstock during Memorial weekend where Kaskade, Moby and Steve Aoki took centre stage. While it may not have found much of a foothold in the Americas, back home, Mysteryland has blossomed into one of the premier summer festivals in the world. Main Stage, Paradise and The Big Top are stages that feature musical acts representing all aspects of electronic dance music such as trance, techno, hardstyle and house and become command centres where some of the best-known DJs engineer seeming endless hours of music bliss to the eternal delight of the tens of thousands of patrons.
