What are the competition classes for the Championship Tractor Pull? The Championship Tractor Pull is not an informal event. World-class pullers from around the country are invited to showcase their talents in one of six competition classes, including Pro Stock Tractor, Super Stock Tractor, Modified Tractor, Alcohol Tractor, Two-Wheel-Drive Trucks and Four-Wheel-Drive Trucks. A Championship Tractor Pull Grand Champion title is awarded to the champion of each class.
What happens at a Championship Tractor Pull?Drivers compete in 10 divisions. Which division drivers compete in is determined by the weight of their tractor or truck. A weighted sled is attached to the tractor or truck to provide resistance to the vehicle, making it difficult for the driver to advance the full length of the track. Two drivers are competing against each other to attempt to drive the length of the track with the same amount of weight via their sled. The tractor or truck that pulls the farthest wins. If both drivers make it the entire length of the track, they will race again but with additional weight added.
What should fans who have never been to the Championship Tractor Pull before know? The event is held inside Freedom Hall, and the tractors and trucks are very loud. It is advised to bring and wear noise-canceling headphones or earplugs. Estimated attendance each year is over 70,000 over the multiple sessions of the event. Be prepared for the large crowds. Be sure to check out "The Pit," an area in Broadbent Arena where fans can take a photo with their favorite vehicles, meet the drivers and check out the machines.
