NCAA Baseball Athens Regionals Tickets
Host: University of Georgia
Facility: Foley Field
First Held: 2001
2019 Champion: Florida State
NCAA Baseball Athens Regionals TicketsThe Georgia Bulldogs will play host to the NCAA Baseball Athens Regionals whenever the NCAA selects UGA as a host site. When that does occur, three other quality teams will head to Athens to take part in a double-elimination tournament with the winner being among the final 16 teams still playing in the NCAA Baseball Tournament. The only stumbling block that remains for the winner here between it and the College World Series is a best-of-three NCAA Baseball Super Regionals series. Each of these games will be intense both on the field and in the stands as the teams fight to continue their seasons. It's also likely that at least some of these games will be broadcast on national television as were four of the six contests played here in 2019. These contests may also feature future MLB players, some of whom will be playing their final collegiate games. Get your NCAA Baseball Athens Regionals tickets at StubHub.

When were the first NCAA Baseball Athens Regionals games? The first NCAA Baseball Athens Regionals took place in 2001. Coastal Carolina defeated Georgia Tech 5-3 in the first game. The first Georgia Bulldogs NCAA Baseball Tournament game to ever be played in UGA’s home facility was a heart-breaker for the hosts as Georgia Southern scored the tie-breaking run in the ninth inning to win, 4-3. The Bulldogs responded to that setback with a 13-5 win over rival Georgia Tech to keep their season alive. However, it appeared that another heart-breaking loss to Georgia Southern was going to follow as the Eagles dramatically scored four in the ninth to tie the game at 9-9. Nonetheless, the hosts would win it in 11 innings, 10-9. After a comfortable 9-3 win over Coastal Carolina that followed, the Bulldogs claimed the regional title over the Chanticleers, turning a 7-6 deficit entering the ninth into an 8-7 win with two tallies.
Who won the 2019 NCAA Baseball Athens Regionals?Florida State dominated the 2019 NCAA Baseball Athens Regionals. The Seminoles opened play with a 13-7 win over Florida Atlantic before dominating Georgia in back-to-back meetings, 12-3 and 10-1. Those results extended the final season for legendary FSU head coach Mike Martin, who ultimately concluded his 40-year career at the College World Series a couple of weeks later.
When will the NCAA Baseball Athens Regionals be played? If Georgia is selected as a host school for the 2020 NCAA Baseball Regionals, four of the 64 teams in the field will play here from May 29-June 1. A game will only be necessary on the fourth day if two teams with fewer than two losses remain at that point.
What will attendance at the NCAA Baseball Athens Regionals be like?It is expected that NCAA Baseball Athens Regionals tickets will be in significant demand, especially for the games that the host Bulldogs play. For example, the attendance for the final game in 2019 between Georgia and Florida State drew a crowd of 2,996 nearly filling Foley Field’s capacity. Another significant factor will be how far away the three visiting teams and their accompanying fan bases will need to travel. For example, if Georgia Tech or Clemson takes part, requiring just a 75-mile trip in both cases, demand will greatly increase.
