NCAA Softball Regionals ColumbiaWhenever the NCAA awards hosting rights to South Carolina, the Gamecocks will play host to the NCAA Softball Regionals Columbia. Three other quality teams will make their way to this elite competition to take part in a double-elimination tournament that will be played over a three-day span. Those selected for this competition will be in the field of 64 that the NCAA had revealed on the Selection Show, which is broadcast the prior weekend. That’s also when South Carolina will learn if it’ll play host to these games. If that does happen, those who are alumni and fans of South Carolina and of the other three schools will come out to support their teams. They and general softball fans will get to enjoy quality games that will mean so much to each of these teams and players. The last team standing that weekend will be amongst the top 16 in the country and will take part in the NCAA Softball Super Regionals, which will take place the following weekend. Who won the 2018 NCAA Softball Regionals Columbia?Although the Gamecocks were not selected to host the NCAA Softball Regionals in 2019, they did so in 2018. After South Carolina defeated UNC Greensboro, 3-0, the Gamecocks lost to Liberty, 3-1, before advancing to the championship round with a 5-4 win over Hofstra. On the tournament’s final day, South Carolina gained a measure of revenge on the Lady Flames, prevailing by 2-0 and 5-0 scores to win the tournament. However, they were quickly dispatched by Arizona State at that stage, as the Sun Devils posted a pair of 5-2 wins.
