Where will the NCAA Softball Regionals Norman games be held?Marita Hynes Field has been the home of the Oklahoma Sooners since 1998. It has synthetic waterproof dirt and an underground drainage system, which allow the NCAA Softball Regionals Norman teams to get right back to action shortly after one of the heavy storms that Oklahoma is known for has passed. While settled in their chair-back or bleacher seats, fans get to enjoy a video scoreboard as they take in the action.
When was the first NCAA Softball Regionals Norman played? The Oklahoma Sooners’ first two NCAA Softball Regionals in 1994 and 1995 were played away from campus, but they didn’t have to travel far as, just 80 miles away, rival Oklahoma State hosted them and the rest of the NCAA Softball Regionals Stillwater teams. It was not until 1997 when the NCAA Softball Regionals Norman became a reality. The Sooners hosted OSU this time, and they were joined by Missouri State and Washington. UW defeated Oklahoma State in a high-scoring championship game, 10-9. However, the Sooners’ second hosting of the NCAA Softball Regionals Norman was a resounding success for the host as Oklahoma went 4-0 there and repeated that record at the 2000 NCAA Women’s College World Series to claim its first national softball championship.
Who won the 2019 NCAA Softball Regionals Norman?Oklahoma appeared to be cruising to a regional title in 2019 after claiming a pair of shutout wins, 12-0 over UMBC and 4-0 against Wisconsin. However, the Badgers provided quite a challenge on the tournament’s final day, first defeating the Sooners by a 2-1 score before falling short in the final game, 2-0. Oklahoma would ultimately advance to the national championship series before falling to UCLA.
Who will play at the NCAA Softball Regionals Norman?Oklahoma is guaranteed to take part in the NCAA Softball Regionals Norman as there are no neutral host schools for the NCAA Softball Regionals. If the NCAA Softball Regionals Norman don’t occur this season, that means that the Sooners are either taking part in tournament games elsewhere or weren’t selected to the field of 64. If it is taking place, the other participating teams will be announced on the NCAA Selection Show, and NCAA Softball Regionals Norman ticket holders would enjoy access to games played here from, in the case of 2020, either May 14-16 or May 15-17.
What is the format of the NCAA Softball Regionals Norman? All four teams will play once on the first day and for a second time on the second day. The schools that have gone 1-1 at this point will then play each other to wrap up the middle day of play. On the final day, the winner of that latter contest will take on whichever team had started out 2-0 in one or two games.
