Nemr Abou Nassar is known as “Lebanon’s King of Comedy.” He started his comedy career in 2006 and has performed at top venues across Lebanon and the United States. His work has been featured on Comedy Central’s Insider. In the United States, Nassar has performed on comedy tours including the Axis of Evil, which featured Nassar and three other comedians from the Middle East.
Nemr Abou Nassar’s humor is an attempt at his own brand of unity among people. When he started performing he utilized the creed, “No Politics, No Religion, One Love.” He started out performing to less than 100 people and within a year was selling out to crowds of more than 2,000 people.
Nassar has spent the past few years touring extensively and performing to sold-out crowds in major cities across the United States, Europe and Australia. His U.S. television credits include CNN and The Nightly Show and international appearances including Arabia Morning Show, Friday Night Live: Minorities Rule (Showtime Arabia) and Nharkom Saed on LBS International. His feature specials include “Victorious Secret,” “Epic,” “Eye of the Tiger” and “This is Why I’m Hot,” among others.
Nemr Abou Nassar was born on September 26, 1983, in Beirut, Lebanon. In the mid-1980s, his family immigrated to the United States seeking refuge from the civil war in Lebanon and settled in San Diego, where he grew up. He returned to the Mid-East to attend the American University of Beirut and graduated with a major in finance and a minor in philosophy. Early in his career, he helped to raise money for the Children’s Cancer Center of Lebanon by collecting money from the audience after his performances. Nassar has spent his career as an ambassador for Arab comedians.
He has acted as performer and producer throughout his career. Over a decade after starting his comedy career, his shows continually sell out across Lebanon, Canada and other countries. He has performed alongside American musician and comedian Reggie Watts and has been featured on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine.
