Neurosis tour dates
For more than three decades, the Oakland-based post-metal band Neurosis has steadily built a devoted fan base that has in turn followed its evolution from hardcore punk to doom metal and dark ambient. With no fewer than 12 studio albums to their credit, Neurosis continues to tour the globe, including performances in North America, Europe, Australia and New Zealand.
Founding members Scott Kelly, Jason Roeder and Dave Edwardson came together in 1985 to form Neurosis. The trio released its debut album, Pain of Mind, two years later. By the time the band's second album, Word as Law, came around in 1990, Neurosis was already moving away from its original hardcore sound.
Their eleventh studio album, Fires Within Fires, was released in 2016.
Neurosis's 30th anniversary concert
Not all bands survive three decades together, so when the members of Neurosis realized that their own 30th anniversary was coming up, they wanted to celebrate accordingly. In March 2016, they booked San Francisco's Regency Ballroom for the weekend and secured an lineup that included genre contemporaries Converge, Sleep and Negative Approach. After three days of performances by six other bands, Neurosis took the stage on Sunday night, treating fans to a two-hour set that featured selections highlighting the trajectory of their career and development as a band.
