New York College Classic TicketsThe New York College Classic has only been around a few years, but it has already provided an additional venue of sporting entertainment for Syracuse fans in particular and college football fans in general. These games are held just a few weeks into the regular season of college football, and they allow fans to participate in a bowl-like game before the bowl post-season play. The first game was against the top-ranked Trojans from the University of Southern California, and the subsequent second and third matchups in the New York College Classic were a great double set against the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. Syracuse fans got the best of both worlds, with a chance to see a top-ranked team compete against their favored home team and a great setting to see a continuing rivalry between Notre Dame and Syracuse. What is the background of the New York College Classic?Back in 2009, Syracuse and MetLife entered an agreement for a series of games to be held at the MetLife Stadium. The first game would be against the University of Southern California in 2012, and the second and third games would be against Notre Dame in 2014 and 2016. In 2011, Syracuse and MetLife announced an intention to schedule 10 more games at the MetLife Stadium over a time frame of 20 years between 2019 and 2038. This series of games is christened the New York College Classic.
What was the outcome for Syracuse and the University of Southern California game?USC came into the MetLife Stadium with a ranking of No. 2 in college football. Syracuse rose to the challenge very well, and the Orange delivered a forward drive that was promising but ultimately became stalled in the fourth quarter. The final score was 42-19 against the Orange, but this was still quite respectable against a powerhouse team like the Trojans.
What were the outcomes for the two contests between Syracuse and Notre Dame?Notre Dame came to play some football against the Orange squad twice at the New York College Classic, held at the MetLife Stadium. The first match in 2014 garnered the Fighting Irish a 31-15 win over Syracuse. This exciting back-and-forth action on the field featured multiple ball turnovers against the Irish, but Notre Dame went on to score four touchdowns to win the game. In 2016, a rematch resulted in another win for Notre Dame, with a final score of 50-33. Syracuse's Eric Dungey scored all five of their touchdowns, but it wasn't enough against Notre Dame in the end, when the Irish scored another 17 points to win the game.
