The game marked the first win for the team since the NFLPA tournaments began. Prior to making his way to the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl, Pagano served as head coach for the Baltimore Colts from 2011 to 2017. NFL legends Andre Johnson and Ed Reed assisted Coach Pagano and the American team to victory. The NFLPA Collegiate Bowl is a fairly new competition that was established within the last decade. The Slippery Rock running back capably rushed 78 yards and gained a touchdown during one of 10 carries. UAB receiver Xavier Ubosi impressed the crowd along with his friends and family with his catching ability. He awed fans by grabbing a 19-yard pass in midair. Coach Pagano commended quarterbacks JaJuan Lawson, Jalan McClendon and Kyle Shurmur along with defensive backs Brandon Watson and Nate Brooks. All gave performances worthy of NFL players.
Who are some of the past NFLPA Collegiate Bowl MVP stars?In 2012, University of Tulsa quarterback G.J. Kinne was the first Bowl MVP. He was followed in 2013 by University of Kansas quarterback Dayne Crist. LSU running back J.C. Copeland won the title in 2014. Azusa Pacific University running back Terrell Watson, University of Missouri kicker Andrew Baggett and Saint Francis University safety Lorenzo Jerome were deemed MVP in subsequent years.
What is the history of the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl?The National Football League Players Association established the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl in 2012. The first game was open to underclassmen who were deemed eligible for the NFL draft. However, in the second year, the competition only invited players who were seniors. During the week-long event, players are introduced to the players' union. All also receive an education pertaining to the business side of professional football. The players are interviewed by coaches, general managers and other team personnel representing the 32 NFL organizations and the Canadian Football League. The event gathers more than 100 players representing more than 80 college institutions. Dozens of players are also invited to attend the annual NFL Scouting Combine, which drafts more than one dozen hopefuls.

In 1982, the Washington Redskins gained the victory over the Miami Dolphins 27–17. The series was also played here in 1986 and again in 1992.
