NHRA AAA Texas Fall Nationals TicketsThey call it the fastest race in Texas. Each fall, the NHRA rolls into the Texas Motorplex in Ennis, Texas, for the AAA Texas Fall Nationals. The first event in 1986 was won by Don "Big Daddy" Garlits in Top Fuel, Kenny Bernstein in Funny Car and Bob Glidden in Pro Stock. All three are now members of the Motorsports Hall of Fame. Scheduled for October, the Texas Fall Nationals event is highlighted on Friday by Friday Nitro Live when the nitro-burning dragsters shake the ground starting at 6:30 p.m. Saturday Nitro lights up the second day. On Sunday, finals for all the top categories will run from 2 to 5 p.m. when the event winners will gather in the Winner's Circle. The AAA Texas Fall Nationals is the fourth of six events in which teams can win points toward the NHRA's Mello Yello Drag Racing championships. How is the racing at the Texas Motorplex? When the Texas Motorplex opened, it was the first all-concrete dragstrip on the NHRA schedule. The concrete surface gives teams a speed advantage that lets crew chiefs run for record-setting performances. There are now six all-concrete tracks on the NHRA circuit. A quarter-mile in length, the Motorplex is the first purpose-built super-stadium designed just for drag racing. The facility has seen many NHRA records and milestones. In the first-ever Top Fuel pass, racer Darrell Gwynn ran a 5.280-second pass to set a national record. In 1987, the Motorplex became the first independently owned facility to host two NHRA events in one year. In 1988, Hall of Famer Eddie Hill broke the five-second barrier at Texas with a 4.990-second run. In 1997, Cory McClenathan became the first NHRA driver to top 320 mph, running 321.77 mph in a quarter of a mile at Texas.
What NHRA categories are part of the NHRA AAA Texas Fall Nationals schedule?A full slate of Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock and Pro Mod categories are set to go at the 2020 Texas Fall Nationals. At 10,000 horsepower, the Top Fuel cars thunder down the track at over 320 mph. Doug Kalitta set the Motorplex track record at 326.71 in 2014. The Funny Cars are almost as fast, routinely topping 310 mph. Courtney Force owns the Motorplex record after a 314.90 mph pass in 2014. When you see a Pro Stock car sitting at the starting line in Texas, you might mistake it for a car in your dealer's showroom. Your confusion will be short-lived, though, when the 500-cubic-inch engine carries that vehicle to 200 mph in the quarter-mile. Allen Johnson's car carried him to a track record of 211.99 mph in 2012.
Who are the leading Top Fuel drivers in the AAA Texas Fall Nationals? With championships and records on the line, Texas draws the NHRA's finest drivers every year. In Top Fuel, that means you can expect to see names like Brittany Force, Austin Prock, Terry McMillen and Antron Brown at the top of the charts. In 2019, Texan Billy Torrence took the trophy for Top Fuel with a 3.775-second pass at 319.67 mph. You can bet that Force and McMillen will be looking for revenge in 2020.
Who are the leading Funny Car drivers in the NHRA AAA Texas Fall Nationals? As a Hall of Famer, any time John Force shows up, he headlines the event. Force, Robert Hight, Matt Hagan, Robert Tasca III and Cruz Pedregon head a strong field of Funny Car entrants for the 2020 AAA Texas Fall Nationals. Hagan won the event in 2019 with a 3.909-second, 327.59 mph pass. It was his 32nd career win and his third at Texas Motorplex. He beat Tasca in the finals and had to defeat Hight to get there. All of them will be gunning for Hagan when they get back to Texas.
