Northern Iowa Panthers Football Tickets
The University of Northern Iowa Panthers football team came onto the football scene in 1895. The university has fielded its team almost every year since then. Interestingly, the first game the Panthers played in 1895 had no head coach designated for it. Team captain J.C. Sanders took on a dual role to help coach the team and make plays. The players were talented, but they lacked the spirit of teamwork. UNI defeated Coe College in a 12–10 victory that day. Fred Wolff took the reins as the first head coach for the team. During the 1906 and 1907 seasons, college administrators at UNI decided that the sport was simply too rough for students to play. The new rules resulted in many male students opting to register at other Iowa schools instead of Northern Iowa so that they could play football. After altering the rules, the university realized its error and restarted the football program.
