World Championship silver medallists
Norway's national men's handball team made their tournament debut in 1958 at the World Championships where they finished in sixth position. They went on to qualify for the competition almost a dozen other times before picking up their first ever medal, a silver at the 2017 event held in France. That's not the only major progress the country has made in recent times. In 2016 they finished a best-ever fourth place in the European Handball Championship in Poland having beaten Croatia and Belarus in the group stages. That same year they were also honoured for their sportsmanship with the Pierre de Coubertin World Fair Play Trophy. As a result, the Norwegians, who also competed in the Summer Games in Munich back in 1972, are viewed as one of the rising European nations in the sport of handball. Several Norwegian internationals have made the All-Star Team at various competitions over the years, including Franke Løke at the 2008 European Championship, Håvard Tvedten at the 2011 World Championships and Sander Sagosen at the 2016 and 2018 Euros and 2017 Worlds. If you haven't yet seen the country's skills on the court then book your Norway National Handball Team tickets on offer at StubHub.
A world-conquering women's team
Norway also boasts one of the most successful women's teams in international history. Not only have they won gold medals at the Summer Games at both Beijing 2008 and London 2012, but they have also finished first at three World Championships and a record seven European Championships, four of which were in a row. In 2015 they became the first team ever to hold all three titles simultaneously on two consecutive occasions and remain one of the most feared nations in the women's game. Several players have been selected as MVP over the years including Katja Nyberg, Anja Edin and Stine Bredal Oftedal, while other notable names include Karoline Dyhre Breivang, Susann Goksør Bjerkrheim and Katrine Lunde Haraldsen, all three of whom have earned over 280 caps each, record goalscorer Kjersti Grini and veteran captain Gro Hammerseng.
