Nova Scotia events
Named Nova Scotia or "New Scotland" in honor of the region's many settlers who claim Scottish heritage, this Canadian province boasts an eclectic culture with many influences. The region's culture was also molded by the native Mi'kmaq as well as settlers from various other lands. Today, these various influences have shaped Nova Scotia into a beautiful and richly storied destination with a vibrant variety of entertainment options for visitors to enjoy.
Nova Scotia venues
Many of Nova Scotia's prime music venues are located in Halifax, the capital of the province. Enjoy major touring acts at the Scotiabank Centre or Casino Nova Scotia. The Marquee Club and The Seahorse Tavern are some other great (though smaller) venues for enjoying concerts. Halifax is also home to Symphony Nova Scotia.
One of the most exciting events of the year is the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo, a costumed and choreographed show presented through the coordination of military bands and civilians.
Hockey lovers will have their hands full here. Nova Scotia is home to two Quebec Major Junior Hockey League teams. In Halifax, the Halifax Mooseheads play at Scotiabank Centre, while the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles take the ice at Centre 200 in Sydney. Sports fans whose interests trend more toward basketball may prefer to attend a game in support of the Halifax Hurricanes, who play in the National Basketball League of Canada.
