The Orpheum in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada is a theatre with a history that spans back to the days when vaudeville was popular. It closed once in 1975 for renovations then reopened in 1977. It has a seating capacity of 2,780 people. In 1979, it was designated as one of Canada's historic sites. Although vaudeville is no longer performed in the theatre, it now shows a wide variety of performances. For instance, popular singer Dido has hit the Orpheum Theatre stage with her vocals. Magician Shin Lin has performed at the venue as well. Live orchestra performances with screenings of popular movies, such as the Harry Potter series and Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, have also been held at the theatre.
