The Pantages Theatre in Minneapolis opened to the public in 1916. When it was first built, it featured a Beaux-Arts-style design and was 12 stories tall. The venue is named after Alexander Pantages, an immigrant from Greece who opened hundreds of theaters around the country. It was renovated several times over the past century to modernize the facilities. One of these renovation projects made it the first air-conditioned theater in Minnesota. In 1984, after several changes in ownership, the Pantages Theatre closed down and remained vacant for many years. The City of Minneapolis eventually took over and reopened it in 2002. In 2005, the Hennepin Theatre Trust assumed ownership, and the Historic Theatre Group is now responsible for operations. The theater regularly hosts musical, comedy and theater performances, such as those given by Seth Myers and Joshua Radin. Find Pantages Theatre tickets at StubHub.
