Paradisia brings their unique brand of organic pop to every live performance. This London-bred trio mingles classic girl group melodies with stripped-back instrumentation. Keyboards, pianos, guitars and even the harp propel their sound - a hybrid of classical and chart music. Paradisia tickets are popular with music fans who want an intimate but exhilarating live experience.
Paradisia consists of Kristy Buglass on vocals and keyboard, Sophie-Rose Harper on vocals and Anna Pesquidous on harp. The band formed in 2015 but the three-piece knew each other from school. Originally, they were half of a sextet. But when the group separated, Paradisia continued as a trio. The group share their name with the paradisia plant - known for its funnel-shaped flowers.
Paradisia's big break came when they released a cover of Bruce Springsteen's "Dancing in the Dark." The track climbed to No. 8 on the Hype Machine Chart - a countdown of the most talked-about artists on the internet - and amassed more than 50,000 streams on SoundCloud. Soon, they developed a cult following online. In the run-up to the release of their first studio album, the group whetted fans' appetites with a cover of Beyonce's "Pray You Catch Me."
Paradisia are also known for their captivating live shows. Sombre lights, heavenly vocals and melancholic harmonies all create an ethereal experience. The group supported Carole King at the British Summer Time Festival in 2016 and opened for Laura Mvula. They have also been firm fixtures on the British festival circuit, appearing at events such as the Green Man Festival.
At the end of April 2017, Paradisia supported Michael Kiwanuka on his U.K. tour. The group showcased their sound to a new audience and wowed crowds with their mix of stirring covers and new material.
Paradisia crafted their sound in Berlin, Germany, where they wrote and recorded their debut album, Sound of Freedom, an intoxicating blend of folk and pop. In April 2017, they uploaded the video for their second single, "Warpaint," to YouTube. This piano-heavy track has soaring vocals and spine-tingling harmonies. Tens of thousands of people have watched the promo clip. Several remixes were also commissioned for "Warpaint" to help promote the single, including an edit produced by London-based duo Blue Lab Beats.
Sound of Freedom explores themes such as love, friendship and heartbreak. Paradisia recorded the album with a full live band, creating a rich sound that flows through the record.
Other songs recorded by Paradisia include the moody "Silent Lover," which has generated much critical buzz. Another track, "Fears," opens with a harp solo and transforms into a powerful ballad.
