Also known as Los Guaranies or La Albirroja, the men’s soccer team of Paraguay is a member of CONMEBOL, the South American soccer confederation. Over their more than 100 years of existence, the Paraguay National Football Team has qualified for the FIFA World Cup eight times, and regularly competes in the Copa América, which they've won twice. They play again in the Copa América in 2016 in the United States. The team plays in Estadio de los Defensores del Chaco in Asunción, Paraguay.
Paraguay National Soccer Team History
The first national soccer team of Paraguay was created in 1910.
The team participated in the first World Cup in 1930, only to lose in the first round to the US. They would go on to make another seven World Cup appearances (1930, 1950, 1958, 1986, 1998, 2002, 2006 and 2010), though they’ve never made it past the second round.
The Paraguay National Soccer Team participated in their first Copa América in 1921 and went on to become Copa América champions in 1953 and 1979. In 2011, the team made it the finals and were crowned runners-up.

The Paraguay National Soccer Team will compete in Copa América 2016 in the United States. The guaranteed matches they’ll play? Vs. Costa Rica June 4 in Orlando, Florida; vs. Colombia June 7 in Pasadena, California, at the Rose Bowl; and vs. USA June 11 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
