Hailed as a modern-day answer to Elvis Presley
Born in Purcell, Oklahoma in 1993, Parker Millsap grew up listening to his parents' blues record collection and singing at his local Pentecostal church, and in his teens began performing and writing his own music. Following the release of his largely acoustic 2012 debut album ‘Palisade', Millsap began developing the fusion of country, blues, folk, and rock that would see him hailed as a modern-day Elvis Presley. His self-titled 2014 sophomore subsequently topped the Billboard Americana charts, as did his third studio effort, ‘The Very Last Day', two years later. After co-writing and performing a track on Sarah Jarosz's Grammy-winning LP ‘Undercurrent', Millsap once again changed musical direction by embracing an electrified pop/rock sound for 2018's ‘Other Arrangements'. As well as the adoration of the music press, Millsap also counts none other than Elton John as a major fan. Anthemic foot stompers, timeless acoustic ballads
As well as performing his own sell-out headline shows, Parker Millsap has also opened for some of today's most acclaimed Americana acts including Old Crow Medicine Show, Lake Street Dive, Jason Isbell, Patty Griffin, John Fullbright and Shovels and Rope. The singer-songwriter has become such an in-demand support act thanks to a stirring mix of anthemic foot stompers and timeless acoustic ballads performed with the help of bassist and long-time friend Michael Rose, drummer Paddy Ryan and fiddler Daniel Foulks. Fans should not only expect to hear renditions of singles such as ‘Quite Contrary', ‘Let a Little Light In', ‘Pining' and ‘Truck Stop Gospel', but also the stories behind them from a showman who boasts just as much charisma as he does musical ability. And Millsap sure gives value for money, too, with his well-chosen set lists often spanning more than 20 songs and several encores.
