Party Favor's background
Born Dyan Ragland in Manhattan, Party Favor began DJing while at Chapman University. After graduating, he made showreels for NBC while harboring an ambition to break into acting. He later quit his job to pursue a career in DJing with fellow DJ and friend Alex Mulé. The duo played at clubs across Los Angeles and quickly gained a cult following with their electronic and Dutch house music sets. After parting ways with Mulé, Ragland began DJing under the moniker Party Favor and signed with Bombsquad Records shortly after.
In May 2013, Party Favor released his debut EP, Parkin' Lot Pimpin', followed by the single "Bap U" about a year later. "Bap U" garnered millions of plays on Soundcloud and entered the Top 30 Dance Tracks chart on iTunes. An accompanying music video, featuring Seth Green, Brillz, Ookay, Diplo, ETC!ETC! and TJR, was released to YouTube shortly after.
After dropping several more singles, including "Wiggle Wop" and "Bust Em," Party Favor released his second EP, Party & Destroy, through Mad Decent in August 2016. The EP climbed several charts, peaking at No. 2 on iTunes Albums, No. 6 on the U.S. Billboard Top Dance/Electronic Albums, and No. 13 on the U.S. Billboard Heatseekers Albums charts. Its lead single, "Give It To Me Twice," amassed more than 1 million plays on Spotify in the first two weeks after its release.
Since then, Party Favor has released a succession of solo and collaborative hits, having teamed up with Njomza on the song "Caskets" featuring FKi 1st and Bad Royale on the track "Bury" featuring Richie Loop. He has also toured Australia and New Zealand as part of Alison Wonderland's Wonderland Scarehouse Project.
