Peter Hook Tickets
Peter Hook TicketsSince his early days with Joy Division in the 1970s, Peter Hook has been a leading figure of the post-punk and alternative rock scene. This talented multi-instrumentalist can play the bass guitar, electric drums and synthesizer. He currently performs with his own band, Peter Hook and The Light. A veteran of several renowned bands, Peter Hook continues to thrill audiences with live performances featuring classic hits and new music.
From Joy Division to the LightAt around the age of 20, Peter Hook became a founding member of the post-punk band Joy Division. Originally named Warsaw, the band made its debut at the Electric Circus on May 29th, 1977. Joy Division would release only two albums, Unknown Pleasure and Closer, but it would prove to be an important milestone in the development of punk music. The band's best known song, "Love Will Tear Us Apart," reached a peak position of No. 13 on the UK chart. Following the death of the band's lead singer Ian Curtis in 1980, the remaining members formed the band New Order and would continue to blaze a trail in the post-punk and electronic scene. Two of its albums, Technique in 1989 and Republic in 1993, hit No. 1 on the UK chart. Its hit song "World in Motion" was recorded for the 1990 World Cup campaign of the English football team. The band went on a five-year hiatus starting in 1993, during which Peter Hook recorded with the band Revenge. When New Order returned, it released Get Ready in 2001 and Waiting for the Sirens' Call in 2005. The single "Guilt Is a Useless Emotion" from the latter album received a 2006 Grammy Award nomination for Best Dance Recording. Peter Hook departed the band again in 2007 over differences between the band members. During this phase of his career, Peter Hook briefly played for the alternative rock and post-punk bands Monaco and Freebass. In May 2010, Peter Hook created a new band called Peter Hook and The Light. The band celebrated its founding with a performance of Joy Division songs at the Hook-owned club Factory Manchester. Though it released an extended play album in 2011, Peter Hook and The Light is largely a touring band that covers Joy Division songs on the road.
