Plain White T's tour dates
Plain White T's honed their mainstream alt-rock sound for close to a decade before their single "Hey There Delilah" became one of the biggest hits of the summer of 2007, both in the United States and internationally. Almost another decade later, the band continues to consistently make catchy alternative rock songs that are at their most popular when leaning into the pop and acoustic realms, a signature style that brings big crowds to the latest Plain White T's tour. Fans can certainly expect to hear live renditions of the band's biggest hits, which in addition to the Grammy-nominated "Hey There Delilah" include the platinum-selling "1234" and "Rhythm of Love."
Plain White T's background
Plain White T's was formed circa-1997 in the suburbs of Chicago by high school friends Tom Higgenson (as lead singer and songwriter), bassist Ken Fletcher and drummer Dave Tirio. Embracing the emo and punk-pop tones of the era, the band garnered a sizable local following, and by 2001 had recorded and released their debut album Come on Over. Over the next few years, Plain White T's regularly took to the road and the recording studio, releasing Stop in 2002 and All That We Needed in early 2005. Line-up changes along the way resulted in the Plain White T's growing to a five-piece band. Significant tours during these years included the 2005 Take Action tour with Sugarcult and Head Automatica, and 2006 tour dates with Motion City Soundtrack.
The third single from All That We Needed, "Hey There Delilah," would take the Plain White T's to a whole new level of fame in 2007. The sentimental acoustic earworm became a mainstream radio fixture, reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and topping the charts in 10 different countries. Bolstered by the success of the song, sales of the band's 2006 release, Every Second Counts, took off, eventually reaching No. 33 on the charts and getting certified gold. Plain White T's' 2008 follow-up album, Big Bad World, sustained this career peak and produced two hit singles in "1234" and "Natural Disaster." Another hit came in 2010 with the laid-back acoustic charm of "The Rhythm of Love," the first single from the band's sixth album The Wonders of the Younger, released in December 2010. Another full-length album, American Nights, followed in April 2015.
