Pretty Woman New York Tickets
Pretty Woman New York TicketsBased on the hit 1990 film starring Julia Roberts and Richard Gere, Pretty Woman is the romantic story of two seemingly disparate people — one a corporate raider, the other a prostitute — whose unusual social arrangement eventually develops into something more. Partly a modern Pygmalion take, partly a dark comedy about sex work and partly a romance in the mold of other genre films from the time, Pretty Woman was one of the highest grossing films in the year of its release. Now you can catch a performance of the musical version live on the stage.
Welcome to Our WorldPretty Woman features the work of an all-star creative team. The music and lyrics were created by Grammy-winning rock artist Bryan Adams and his longtime collaborator Jim Vallance while the book was written by a collaborative team of Garry Marshall (who directed the original film) and J.F. Lawton, who wrote the original film. Marshall died before the production could be completed, but the creative team honored his memory during the performances. With direction and choreography provided by Tony-winner Jerry Mitchell, Pretty Woman made its world debut at Chicago’s James M. Nederlander Theatre for a limited run on March 13, 2018. After an initial preview period, it opened at Broadway’s Nederlander Theatre on August 16 of the same year and set a new house record of more than $1 million in a little over a week. It closed a year later on August 18 after 420 performances. The original Broadway production received five nominations from the Broadway.com Audience Awards. Andy Karl won Favorite Leading Actor in a Musical while Orfeh won Favorite Featured Actress in a Musical and Favorite Diva Performance.
