Rae Sremmurd tour dates
Rae Sremmurd debuted in 2013 with a spot on Mike WiLL Made It’s Mike Will Been Trill mixtape, and the charismatic Atlanta-based rap duo has since found a place among the ranks of hip-hop’s rising stars, especially with the breakout success of their track “Black Beatles” fueled, in part, by the viral Mannequin Challenge. When brothers Swae Lee (Khalif Brown) and Slim Jimmy (Aaquil Brown) come to town, fans can expect a dynamic show that oscillates between laidback tunes like “No Type” and huge, rowdy bangers like “No Flex Zone.” Rae Sremmurd’s most recognizable track is the smash hit “Black Beatles” featuring Gucci Mane, and while the title sounds like typical braggadocio, there’s no telling how far these guys will go.
Rae Sremmurd’s background
Originally from Mississippi, brothers Khalif and Aaquil Brown (or Swae Lee and Slim Jimmi, respectively) eventually relocated to Atlanta and started performing at various local venues, parties and contests as Dem Outta St8 Boyz. As their popularity spread, several record labels began showing interest in the group. In 2014, Dem Outta St8 Boyz signed to Ear Drummers Entertainment and shortly thereafter decided to change their name to Rae Sremmurd (which is "Ear Drummers"spelled backwards). The duo's debut album, Sremmlife, dropped in 2015 and quickly flew high up on the Billboard 200. The album’s lead single, “No Flex Zone,” made Rae Sremmurd one of the most talked-about new acts in mainstream hip-hop. Follow-up album SremmLife 2, released in 2016, only earned more fans with hits like “Black Beatles” and “Look Alive.”
Rae Sremmurd’s critical accolades
In just the past few years, Rae Sremmurd have achieved major commercial and critical success. The hip-hop duo has been nominated for awards by both the Billboard Music Awards (Top Rap Artist) and BET Awards (Best Group and Best New Artist). In 2015, Rae Sremmurd took home the BET Award for Best Group.
