More about Raiders of the Lost Ark in concert
George Lucas originally conceived of the idea for Raiders of the Lost Ark back in 1973. He wanted to create a film that evoked the old serials from the early 20th century. Featuring a screenplay by Star Wars veteran Lawrence Kasdan and direction from Steven Spielberg, the movie tells the story of Indiana Jones, who tries to stop the Nazis from obtaining the secrets from the lost Ark of the Covenant. Harrison Ford, Karen Allen and John Rhys-Davies star in the film.
After collaborating with Spielberg on four other films, John Williams composed the soundtrack for the movie with the London Symphony Orchestra. Both Herbert W. Spencer and Al Woodbury provided the orchestrations. The original score for the Raiders of the Lost Ark won a 1983 Grammy Award in the category of Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media, beating out On Golden Pond, Ragtime and The French Lieutenant's Woman. The score also received an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Score, but it lost out to the composition of Chariots of Fire from Vangelis.

Put on by the Film Concerts Live! series, a co-venture of IMG Artists and the Gorfaine/Schwartz Agency, this one-night concert event features a live symphony orchestra and scenes from the film itself displayed on a large overhead screen. The video content will match up with the piece of music to recreate the experience from the film. Audience members are expected to sit during the performance.
Raiders of the Lost Ark in concert soundtrack
The iconic soundtrack to the film features "The Raiders March," also known as "The Indiana Jones Theme," which is one of the most popular and recognizable songs in movie history. Join Williams originally composed this song to be two distinct melodies, but Steven Spielberg suggested that he should combine them together into a single piece. The soundtrack also features "Marion's Theme," "The Miracle of the Ark" and "Flight from Peru."
