Regina Spektor is a singer-songwriter and accomplished pianist whose music contains many elements from the folk genre, although she was part of the "anti-folk" music scene in the early days of her career as well. She mostly plays the piano but also uses a guitar as a secondary instrument. She is known for her broad range of vocals and often unconventional vocal techniques. Many of her songs have appeared in soundtracks for films and television.Life Impacting Art
Regina Spektor was born in the Soviet Union to a family that encouraged her musical talents from an early age. She started as a classically trained pianist, and it remains her primary instrument of choice to this day. Spektor remained in Russia until the age of 9, when the family moved to the US. Being fluent in Russian and coming from a Jewish family, Spektor is influenced by both of these cultures in her professional work. Rather than developing just one musical style that is hers, she says that she strives to give each track its own style instead. Spektor self-released her first three records, gradually gaining recognition in the New York area where she grew up, and she was eventually able to sign with a major label in 2004 when she began to break into the mainstream. On June 11, 2019, the multitalented singer-songwriter was honored by New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio with an official "Regina Spektor Day" in the city that she has long called home.Where can I buy Regina Spektor tickets?
