Relient K has been a relevant player in the Christian music arena since the group surfaced in 1998. Through several lineup changes, Relient K have managed to get a Grammy nod, a pair of Dove awards and three gold albums. Since the band's inception, they have earned crossover success within the contemporary Christian music scene as well as the pop punk/alternative rock scene. Relient K Background
Relient K began in 1998 in Canton, Ohio. They premiered with their eponymous effort in 2000. The Anatomy of the Tongue in Cheek followed in 2001. The release sold 300,000 copies, and Relient K continued to elevate their profile by getting in front of audiences for 200 shows before the year was out. Two Lefts Don't Make a Right... but Three Do arrived next in 2003. The album scored the No. 38 spot on the Billboard Top 200 album chart. They quickly stepped back into the studio and dropped MMHMM. The album hit the streets in the fall of 2004 and landed at No. 15 on the Top 200 and No. 1 for Christian albums and achieved gold status. The album yielded the hybrid tracks, "Who I Am Hates Who I've Been" and "Be My Escape," which fared well on both the Christian charts and rock radio.
After some changes in the band's lineup, Relient K released Apathetic EP in November 2005 to satisfy their fans' appetites until their next album, Five Score & Seven Years Ago, arrived in 2007. Relient K churned out several more releases, including a holiday effort, Let It Snow, Baby... Let It Reindeer (2007) and Collapsible Lung (2013) Their latest effort is Air for Free came out in 2016.

A Plymouth Reliant K automobile is the inspiration behind the band's name. The old car was previously owned by Matt Hoopes, one of the founding members of Relient K.
